Lori Jones Marchant There is a young guy going around town, drives a White Kia--Illinois tag #H90-3038, trying to "sell books"! He just came to my house. I did not answer the door. Joey called the sheriffs dept, so maybe they will find him. Dont answer your door!! Some friends that have talked to him say that he is a complete phony!!! Be careful...call the sherriffs dept if he shows up at your house!!!

Heather Warren I didn't see what car he was in. I didn't want to answer the door, but he could see through my window that I was home....he told me he was selling books to raise money for his school...cookbooks and religious books.

Tammy Dennard Tripp He came by my sister-n-laws earlier this week while I was there. He wasn't pushy but was trying to work on his linguistics degree. He had his ID and was doing a survey to hlp with school as well.

Angie Cannon Slaughter Thanks for the call, Lori! I saw the car across from the house beside y'all when we came in a while ago...the guy was kind of running down the driveway from that house. The car looked like it might be on its last leg - he better head out of Dodge while he can!

Leigh Rogers Parker He came by Locust Lane yesterday. He had the creepiest eyes I'd ever seen. He wouldn't let me get away. I had to say three times I wasn't interested. He asked me all about my kids and people who lived in the neighborhood. I'm telling you Eastman...if he comes knocking, call the police. Also, fyi, it is illegal for him to go selling door to door in the city limits.

Hey eveyone, he came by my house too and I took the time to speak with him and he is from Estonia which is in the old Soviet Union. He and his room mate from college are working for this company during the summer to get money for college and this is the area they have been placed in this area for the summer. They are both very nice guys and are studying genetics in college. The company name is Southwestern and if you will check out there website www.southwesternathome.com you can read about the company (see FAQ). They use students to sell there products and many times stay in a host family's home to help them with expenses. When the guy was leaving my house, my neighbor who is a policeman checked him out and made sure he was legitamate. Both guys are registered with the City of Dublin and have a permit to be selling his products. Hope this helps, but I do definitely understand everyone's concern as we have to be cautious in today's world.

Ken Eiland Oh yeah, one drives the old white car and the other rides a bicycle. They both happen to be named Mart and are room mates back home in college. They told me they have work Eastman and have been working the Dublin area too. The company really works these guys hard. They have to get up at 5:59 am every morning and grab breakfast and work on paper work. After that they begin their grusome tasks of door to door selling till 9 pm 6 days a week. Maybe this will give everyone a different perspective about these guys.

I know where you are coming from Lori, its always a little scarey when people come to the door that we don't know. One reason I knew a little about the company was a guy came last year to my house and he happened to be from Texas and told me a little about the program so I wasn't freaked out this time. Hopefully this will help. I tried to help them find some where decent to live because when he came by my house they were staying at the Dublin Motel and the next time I talked with him they were at the Candle Light Motel. Since then they have found a nice lady that is letting them stay at her house here in Dublin, so ya'll may see the guys around town in the future. All I know is I sure would hate to have their job for the summer. Something on the lighter side was the guy asked me if it was always this hot here? LOL
